Next Springs Sci Fi Weekender now in its Fifth year welcomes Rene Auberjonois who aside from his roles as Odo in Star Trek Deep Space Nine has also appeared in Tim Burtons Batman Forever as Dr. Burton, a mental asylum doctor .He also cameoed as Colonel West in the 1991 Star Trek film Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.
Aside from the above Rene is an all round acting legend having also being best known for main parts in MASH the movie, Benson the TV Series and Boston Legal. He has also made a number of Sci Fi TV Cameos in everything from The Outer Limits, The Bionic Woman, Stargate SG-1, Star Trek: Enterprise and was also a regular character in Wonder Woman.
Next Spring’s Sci Fi Weekender 5 March 28th / 29th has announced that none other than legendary Scottish actor Graham McTavish aka The Hobbits Dwalin & Red Dwarfs Warden Ackerman will be joining the list of Star Guests attending next year’s Fifth edition of the Sci Fi weekender.
McTavish is best known for the above two roles but he also appeared as Desmond’s drill sergeant in the Fourth season of Lost, as well as appearances in the 1998 film Merlin and the recent horror film The Wicker Tree.
Ethan Phillips, pka Star Trek: Voyager's Neelix joins the line-up for 2014
Ethan Phillips who while being best known as being Star Trek: Voyager's Neelix he has like Rene also appeared in many films too including the 1994 Russell Mulcahy Film The Shadow,Critters (1986) and The Island (2005)In 1990, he began his prolific Star Trek career playing the Ferengi character of Dr. Farek in Star Trek: The Next Generation (episode "Ménage à Troi")..Phillips then went on to play Neelix on Star Trek: Voyager from 1995 to 2001, Phillips stayed with the series through its entire seven-season run, and also performed a cameo as the holographic nightclub maître d' in the 1996 film, Star Trek: First Contact. Phillips also appeared as a Ferengi pirate captain on an episode of Star Trek: Enterprise.He has not only performed on three separate series in the Star Trek TV universe (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager, and Star Trek: Enterprise), he has also appeared in one of the feature length films (Star Trek: First Contact), and performed in the Star Trek Internet fan film titled Of Gods and Men which starred several of the original Original series Star Trek cast.
Robert Rankin returns to the Weekender as panel host
Yes, the rumours are true: Robert Rankin is back by popular demand. The best-selling novelist, and wife Rachel, will be back to present many of the Q&A panels at the 2014 event, which is guaranteed to add another huge element of entertainment to the daytime proceedings. Taking place from 27th to 30th March 2014, the Weekender returns to the its new home of Hafan y Mor, North Wales.
Darth Elvis and the Imperials provide some Musical love to the Weekender
Next up and bringing a musical flavour to the March Festivities are Darth Elvis & The Imperials , a Star Wars themed Elvis tribute band from Viva Mos Eisley. The bands biog reads "In 1977 Elvis didn't die he turned to the Darkside of the Force and ever since he has been playing music venues around the Outer Rim Territory. The time has come for the Dark King of the Sith & his band of Imperials to return to the Galaxy where he is best known." The band performed for the first time at the Official Star Wars convention Celebration Europe back in 2007 and have been thrilling audiences ever since with their unique mixture of rock n roll, comedy & outlandish performances since.
Simon Fisher-Becker aka Doctor Who's Dorium Maldovar joins the line up
Best known for playing Dorium Maldovar in Dr Who, Simon Fisher-Becker is a versatile Actor covering the whole spectrum of the industry. Equally at home with Comedy and Tragedy from Shakespeare to Panto, Film, TV, Stage and Radio. Other TV credits include, Afterlife, Getting On, Love Soup, One Foot in the Grave, London's Burning, The Bill, Doctors and in 2014 will be seen playing Tony Fazackerley in Puppy Love with Jo Scanlan, Vicki Pepperdine and Sanjeev Bhaskar. Along with Frances Barber and Brett Underwood Simon has added his voice to the animation series 'Gay Boys' by Thomas Cowell and appeared in Big Finish productions. Simon has also ventured into the realms of Webseries playing 'Dante' in The Waterside Trilogy by Alan Rafferty and Roger in '3some' by Lisa Gifford. Simon has a One Man Show - 'My Dalek Has A Puncture' an autobiographical story leading up to the point where Simon is offered 'Dorium Maldovar' in Dr Who. Originally designed as an audience participatory panel for Dr Who and Sci-Fi Conventions, it successfully toured Australia in 2013. With an insight in how the Industry works for Actors this highly entertaining show is popular with Drama Colleges, Universities and Art Houses too. Born in 1961, Simon has watched Dr Who from William Hartnell. As a fan now associated with Dr Who Simon pinches himself on a daily basis. Apart from actually appearing in Dr Who Simon's favourite experiences are getting to travel the World, meeting and chatting with Fans.
Blake's 7's Stephen Greif
Stephen Greif is an award winning RADA trained English born Stage, Television, Film and Voicework actor. He is most familiar for his roles as Travis, the eyepatched antagonist in the cult BBC Sci –Fi series “Blakes 7”, Harry Fenning the gangster publican in 3 series of the BBC sit-com “Citizen Smith” Signor Donato the opulent Merchant in the Movie “Casanova” and as the Rich playboy in the series of Kenco Commercials. A multi award nominated member of The National Theatre over many years, he has appeared with the RSC in Stratford and America and in numerous West end productions including most recently Dr Fine in “Six degrees of separation” at The Old Vic. He has an impressive and extensive track record in Voicework on Radio, Talking books and in the TV and Radio Advertising and Corporate worlds.
Spencer is a Welsh actor and stuntman, whose filmography in the world of Sci-fi, fantasy and horror is impressive. Probably most notably in the UK for his portrayal of the Ice Warrior, and the Wooden King in Doctor Who.
However, Spencer's Blockbuster Hollywood career spans back to 2004, playing the part of the werewolf in "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban", 2005 saw Spencer take up roles roles in "Beowulf and Grendel", "Batman Begins", and finally Vogon in "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy". Through 2007 you could find him in "The Golden Compass", and "Stardust"
Then in 2010 he landed the role of the Wolfman, in the film of the same name followed swiftly by playing Killawog in "The Green Lantern", and then finally in "Ghostrider 2", and "Wrath of the Titans"

A black hole is the most destructive force in existence. Scientists theorize that a spacecraft entering through a specific point in the black hole could be transported to an unknown and distant part of the universe.
A crew is assembled and tasked with traversing the black hole in an experimental spacecraft. If the scientists are wrong or if they enter the black hole through the wrong point they’ll be crushed into oblivion.

Creator and first editor of 2000AD, champion of girls' and political comics, co-creator of Requiem Vampire Knight, Marshal Law, Accident Man, Nemesis and many more
He has been called "the godfather of British comics". His comics are notable for their violence and anti-authoritarianism. He is best known for creating 2000 AD and playing a major part in the development of Judge Dredd. Pat will be in attendance for SFW5 talking about his life's work, and taking questions

Royd Tolkien, great-grandson of author, J.R.R Tolkien
Royd Tolkien is the great-grandson of author, J.R.R Tolkien. He appeared in the final film of The Lord of the Rings trilogy - The Return of the King, and most recently in the 2nd of the Hobbit films - The Desolation of Smaug.
He’s lived most of his life in Wales and now splits his time between Wales, London and LA. He’s a film and TV producer and is working on several projects that will be shot in 2014.
